he Hotel "Pod Orłem", which is situated on Bydgoszcz's main high street, was designed in 1882 and is a perfect example of 19th century architecture inspired by the various tones of baroque and renaissance. (The hotel was entered into Bydogoszcz's Register of Monuments in 1974) A beautiful park lies on the hotel's east side. The rich interior of the hotel has been refurbished and restored with new floors, a staircase, stylish stained-glass windows, a gold-plated balustrade, and marble finishes. The hotel has, therefore, been restored and decorated in traditional Polish style. Hotel "Pod Orłem" offers 39 single rooms and 32 double rooms as well as four luxury suites (including the Rubinstein Suite with a piano). All the rooms have a bathroom (hair-dryers may be found in each one) and are each equipped with mini bars, satellite & pre-paid TV, radios, telephones and Internet access. A steam trouser press and safe deposit boxes can be found in all the elegant two-roomed suites. Some of the rooms, which face Gdańska Str., have their own private balconies. There is also a room especially designed for the handicapped and we have also designated one whole floor for non-smokers.
